It might be a little too hot out still to enjoy a warm mug of wassail, but this Spiked Iced Wassail Cocktail is perfect for those early fall nights!
We did try making this cocktail a hot one, but it turns out… when you pour cream based liqueur into a hot mug of wassail, the whole thing curdles. And while me and Maddy aren’t opposed to drinking it (as you can see in our latest LIVE video HERE), apparently having curdled chunks in your cocktail turns some people off. Haha! Who knew?? When one types it all out like this it does sound pretty gross, but honestly, I regret nothing. It was tasty!
But, due to the backlash we received from the aforementioned video… we’ve made a few tweaks to the recipe and decided to make this cocktail a cold one.
Guys, it was a good idea! This Spiked Iced Wassail Cocktail is freaking delicious!
I’d never heard of cold wassail before and wasn’t sure it would be as good but man, was I wrong! I’m not sure why I was worried… I love iced coffee and it’s kind of the same concept. Although, after a couple of these spiked iced wassail cocktails I feel much more relaxed than I do after a few iced coffees. Iced coffee kinda gives me that fear of imminent heart attach feeling. No really… I’m SO sensitive to caffeine! But, I still haven’t found the the courage to just order decaf. I mean, what would people think?! So I just continue to torture myself with fully loaded caffeinated coffee. Enough about me… let’s get back to the cocktail.
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:
- wassail (We used Stephen’s dry mix)
- spiked rum
- Rumchata
- orange
- ice
Scroll down for full recipe.
To make the Spiked Iced Wassail Cocktail, first make the wassail. To do this, simply mix the powdered mix with water. In a separate glass, add ice, the juice from half an orange, and rum. Next, add the wassail and Rumchata. Stir and garnish with an orange slice. You can add more rum and Rumchata or less depending on your personal taste.
SPIKED ICED WASSAIL COCKTAIL:
- Stephen’s dry wassail mix (make according to package directions)
- 2 ounces spiced rum
- 2 ounces rumchata
- juice from 1/2 an orange
- ice
Now, throw on that flannel and those fuzzy boots and get sippin’!
I don’t tell you guys this enough, but THANK YOU! Thank you so much for being here and supporting our crazy antics. We couldn’t do what we love without you being here, reading our ramblings. So truly, from the bottom of our hearts… THANK YOU! We appreciate you.
XOXO
